Video Round Tripper
Do you find your website looks better over screen share?
Now you can keep it that way!
<script src="roundtrip.iife.js"></script>
<script>
RoundTripCore.mountRoundTrip(document.body)
</script>
Or <RoundTrip> in React.
Requires WebCodecs over HTTPS. It can’t see into iframes, closed shadow DOM or WebGL canvases. Also won’t work with reduced motion. If this page looks normal that might be why.
Video Round Tripper is a component that takes everything on your page, passes it through whatever crappy video codec you have on your device, then puts it back on the page.
It is especially useful on subtle gradients…
…areas of high chroma difference…
Your codec
H.264
…and fine details.
It also comes with the ability to drop keyframes and specify your GOP (Group of Picture) lengths for some good old fashioned datamoshing
(Best on H.264. Some codecs refuse to mosh and just stutter.)
Config
Compression factor of the output video.
How often the page is captured.
How long between I frames. Longer intervals let more error accumulate.
Size the video is encoded at, as a fraction of your screen. Lower is blockier.
H.264 where this device can drive it hard, VP9 otherwise. Enable Mosh prefers H.264.
Your page still works!
